The story of Asik Garip is a folk tale about love that goes beyond the borders of the Turkish world and is told or listened to by many nations. It is possible to see the traces of the Asik Garip story in a wide range of manuscripts, conks, magazines and anthologies. This story, spread over a wide geography, develops around the heroes named Asik Garip and Mahmihri. The subject of this study is the episode structure and motifs of the Asik Garip story compiled by Ergun Sav and first published in 1974. In our study, information was given about the episodes of the story, which was written in a mixed verse-prose way, its similarities or differences with other variants, its motifs and language features. Thus, the importance of the story in terms of folklore has been revealed.
