USING NASRETTIN HOCA COMMENTS IN CULTURAL TRANSFER IN TEACHING TURKISH TO FOREIGNERS

Abstract

This study was produced from the master's thesis titled "Using Nasrettin Hodja Jokes in Teaching Turkish to Foreigners at Intermediate Turkish (B1-B2) Levels" (Aksu, 2023). The problem of the study emerged by reading the joke called "Who Will Ride the Donkey" to B1-B2 students studying at TÖMER within Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University and answering the prepared questions. It was tested on 20 students who came from different countries (Nigeria, Cameroon, Somalia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Tajikistan, Cameroon) and completed the B2 level. As a result of the study, it was seen that the students could not answer the questions and understand the idioms and proverbs in the jokes.
