Abstract

Rustam Behrudi (son of Rustam Hidayat oglu Almammadov) was born in 1957 in Behrud village of Ordubad city of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The eldest of nine brothers, Behrudi received his primary education in the village where he lived. Rustam Behrudi is one of the most important living poets of Azerbaijani literature. The poet is known for his poems not only in Azerbaijan, but throughout the Turkic world. Rustam Behrudi's poems during the independence movements of Azerbaijan expressed the feelings and thoughts of the society and endeared the artist to the people of Azerbaijan. The main feature of Rustam Behrudi's works is clear, simple, sincere and understandable language. There are two main reasons for this clarity and comprehensibility used by Behrudi in his works. One is that he clearly uses Azerbaijani Turkish, and the second is that the topics he deals with are easily understood by the entire Turkic world. In short, in his poems, he preferred the language that everyone can understand. Rustam Behrudi is a name known in the Turkish world for his poems. In his poetry, Turkishness, Turkish epics, important Turkish figures, Turanism, the state of Turkish states, etc. were the main issues. The main feeling in Rustam Behrudi's poem is the love of country and nation. Rustam Behrudi does not remain silent in the face of social and moral problems and expresses them in his poems. Themes such as nationality, patriotism, historical sources, the role of Turks and Azerbaijan in the history of centuries play a major role in his poems. The poet expresses these feelings by saying, "For me, there is nothing greater than the love of Turan and the country." Rustam Behrudi included Turan in many of his poems. Rustam Behrudi knows that the ideal of Turan cannot be achieved only with a fighting spirit. To reach Turan, you need a strong cultural base. This situation made it possible for the old Turkish traditions to be so dominant in his poems. Rustam Behrudi expressed in many of his poems that the Turks are not united. According to him, the biggest obstacle for Turan is the differences between themselves. Rustam Behrudi, who has been writing since his youth, his poems published in "Ulduz" and "Azerbaijan" magazines, "Literature" and "Incesanat" newspapers until 1980 made him famous on the global platform.
