INVESTIGATION OF THE ANIMATED SERIES “MAYSA AND BULUT” IN THE CONTEXT OF INTANGIBLE CULTUREL HERITAGE ELEMENTS

Technological developments have brought new opportunities in the transfer of cultural elements; animation, which started to emerge in the 20th century, has turned into an important material for cultural transmission over time. In this article, the transfer of culture through animation is examined through the “Maysa and Bulut” animated series broadcast on TRT Çocuk channel and intangible cultural heritage elements in the animation in question have been identified. In the “Maysa and Bulut” animation series, 4 of the 5 basic areas of intangible cultural heritage studies were found. Names of myths, tales and people from the title “Oral Traditions and Expressions”; children's games under the heading “Performing Arts”; weaving from the title of “Handicrafts”; under the heading “Knowledge and Practices Related to Nature and the Universe”, examples related to folk medicine, folk veterinary medicine, folk cuisine, agriculture and animal husbandry were found. No examples were encountered under the title of “Social Practices, Rituals and Festivals”, which is among the main areas of intangible cultural heritage studies. By the way, photographs taken from the “Maysa and Bulut” animation series are also included in the article and the examples are supported with visuals.
