In legends, narratives involving animals and natural phenomena with symbolic meanings are frequently encountered. The snake is one of the important symbols in these legends. In both Sufi and symbolic narratives, the snake appears with different representations. This article focuses on snake symbolism, addressing its Sufi and symbolic meanings. The role of this symbol in Sufism, its reflections in classical Turkish poetry and folk poetry, and its place in literature are identified. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis is conducted to understand the depth and impact of snake symbolism by examining its role in legends, reflections in mythology, and Divan literature. In this context, the reflections of snake symbolism in different cultures and literary narratives are explored through the legends found in the 12-volume Encyclopedia of Saints, revealing the place and impact of this creature in human thought.
